Google Chrome is preparing to add the Text Fragment feature to its PDF reader soon, which will make it easier to share specific parts of long PDF documents. This feature was previously used on web pages and is now being expanded to PDF files. This new technology will further improve the user experience along with Chrome’s other upgrades such as tag grouping, artificial intelligence-based security, and smart integration of Gemini Live.

Google Chrome is preparing to take its PDF reader to a new level. A new feature called Text Fragment is being added to Chrome, which will allow users to easily share specific parts of long PDF documents.

Text Fragment: What is this feature?

The Text Fragment feature previously worked only on web pages. Through this, users could select a specific text and generate a link, which when sent would take the receiver directly to that text and see it highlighted. Now, the same technology is being made available for PDF files.

After selecting a text in the PDF, you will get the option of “Copy Highlighted Link”. Clicking on it will create a unique link, which when shared will take others directly to that text. This will prove to be very useful especially for researchers, students, and professionals, who often want to share important parts of long PDF files.

Development based on Chromium open source

This feature is currently in the testing phase and its information has been received from the open source code base of Chromium. However, its official launch is not confirmed yet.

Other upgrades: Making Chrome smarter

Google Chrome is not limited to just Text Fragment. The browser is also working on several other upgrades to improve the user experience:

Improvements in tag grouping: Users can now group tabs in a better way, making multi-tasking easier.

AI-based security: Chrome will use artificial intelligence for fraud detection.

Gemini Live integration: Gemini Live will be deeply integrated into Google Chrome, making this browser even smarter.

User experience changes

With these improvements, Chrome will not only make it easier to work with PDFs and web pages, but will also give a new dimension to the way of sharing and collaboration. This feature will be especially helpful for students, researchers, and professionals who want to save time in sharing important information in long documents with others.

Latest updates and opinions

Recently, the tech community has seen excitement over the Text Fragment feature in PDF documents. Many users are considering it a game changer in collaboration and working environments. However, some experts are emphasizing that it will also be necessary to make this feature secure and privacy-friendly.

This initiative of Chrome is not just a technical improvement, but it is being seen as increasing the convenience and productivity of users. More new information about this feature of Google may come out in the coming months.
